Doxxing
The release of personally identifying information about an individual — typically online — usually to enable harassment.
Doxxing exposes home address, phone number, employer, family members, or other private data. Even when each individual data point is technically public, aggregation creates a harassment surface that didn't exist before. Most major platforms ban doxxing; many jurisdictions have started criminalizing it. The chilling effect is significant — fear of doxxing causes self-censorship by journalists, researchers, and activists. See also: chilling effect, self-censorship.
